A quick million miles from Singapore Airlines

Are there easier ways to earn a million Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles? I have to assume so. But probably not faster than the 50.39 seconds it took for Joseph Schooling’s gold medal performance in the 100 butterfly at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The airline feted the newly crowned national hero with a gift of a million points and a KrisFlyer Elite Gold card to match the medal.

The fact that it was posted on Facebook gave ample opportunity for others to point out that the status will likely expire quickly and that the million points probably isn’t enough to cover his training travel needs over the next four years until the 2020 games in Tokyo. Or that KrisFlyer Gold is a relatively low status within the company’s program; many took to the comments to lobby for lifetime status and/or PPS rather than “just gold.” But you cannot please everyone. Especially not on the Internet.

Alaska Airlines welcomes complexity with Hawaiian Airlines acquisition

Alaska Airlines will buy Hawaiian Airlines for $1.9 billion in a cash transaction. Unlike most other mergers, however, the company plans to embrace the complexity of multiple product offerings as it intends to keep both the Hawaiian and Alaska brands in service.

Considering Singapores track record at the Olympia I think lifetime status was the least they could offer. But then SQ has never been known as a generous program, with hard mileage expiration and little C/F international award inventory for *A partners.
That being said, I wouldn’t turn down a million miles on any airline except maybe spirit

One million SGD on top of this isn’t a bad payout for the hard work.

In my opinion, SQ miles are the very easiest miles to earn, as ALL flexible card points transfer to them. If you put a bit of effort you can then fly arguably one of the very best products in the sky, and certainly the best service, for just a few hundred dollars. They have a global route structure with some limitations but global none the less. I love flying them and their business class is better than First on many airlines. I’m grateful for what I can get for as long as it lasts.

That’s good of you not to turn down a million miles though.
